For those who purchased the Star*DV AMBE 3000 dongle (designed and made by Matrix Circuits, distributed by MoenComm) -- I have tested it with BlueDV Beta on Windows and it works just fine. However, BlueDV does not make use of the Star*DV's codec, audio amp and speaker/mike connector. But it can use the AMBE 3000 chip in the Star*DV. The AMBE features added to BlueDV were focused on the Northwest Digital Radio ThumbDV. Turns out that device uses the same AMBE 3000 chip and FTDI USB interface chip as the Star*DV. Note that all Star*DVs use a data rate of 460,800. Recent ThumbDVs use that same rate, but early versions used 230,400. Since BlueDV Settings allow selection of data rate, BlueDV is compatible with both. Most people will have no driver problems on Windows. When the device is plugged in, Windows will normally install the correct FTDI driver and assign a COM port. On some Windows pcs that have other FTDI drivers already installed, no COM port will be created, but there is a way to completely remove such drivers and let Windows install the correct one. More info available here. I am still researching using the Star*DV with BlueDV-AMBE on Android using an On The Go (OTG) cable. I will post more on this in the future.

Please note Star*DVs are no longer being made and are not available. This thread is for those who previously purchased a Star*DV and would like to use it with BlueDV software.
