n5wd: Coming up next month, the Cowtown Hamfest, Jan 18 & 19, 2019 at the Forest Hills Comminity Center just south of IH-820 and Forest Hills Drive. Snould be three or four forums on digital voice modes, plus the usual general interest programs.
VE7LEE: My questions is, since we are now have multi mode digital nets now, show this net be open up to answer any digital questions involving other modes such as DMR, C4FM and other digital modes?
VE7LEE: oops should be having.
N6HKH: We discuss open source digital voice systems, including the "other digital modes."
VA3TWT: Not wanting to poke the hornet's nest, but I think Peanut will be the death of D-Star. Now, any stable or unstable operator can use D-Star where as previous to the app the unstable operator would probably not make the investment in a D-Star radio.
KE0OMT: I'm not able to make it in tonight, might be to far from my node... wanted to say though that the registration presses almost made me loose interest in D-Star. It took me 9 Weeks to get registered and 3 tries because of unresponsive repeater owners.
KE0OMT: *Process
kc9sio: VA3TWT, I can see both sides of this issue with Peanut, as well as the reasoning behind registration. To me, it involves keeping our networks secure. But there has to be some sort of balance here. I just don't know what that is.
KG4NWE: I kindof fumbled on my turn on the net, I wanted to also mention that I haven't made the investment of dstar radio yet. But by being able to use peanut as a free"trial" I have decided to invest in the real thing. So maybe it does have value.
