I am new to Dstar and the ID 51A Plus. I am registered for Dstar at my local repeater. I have a DVAP up and running at my QTH. I am however unable to program my ID 51A Plus for DVAP operation. Somehow I was able to get one memory channel set up and it's using refoo3c. I can't seem to program it for anything else. The manual is great to repeater operation bot nothing about DVAP. Can anyone point me in the direction of documents/video help for my issue? Thanks in advance for your help. 73, Doug

My id-51a is on order. I have been reading the manual online and it is from hunger. Go to YouTube and search on id-51a. There is a video ( among several ) showing how to get linked up with the ref type reflectors. For the others I THINK you just input the name and suffixs.

Check out the DstarInfocon videos for one year, 2016 for example. They can be found at dstarinfo.com/conferences.aspx These videos really helped me to get started. Enjoy DStar Cal N9KO

You didn't mention the software or type of computer you are using. The most popular solution (by far) is to use a tiny Raspberry Pi and a good Pi image like the W6KD DStar Commander. This software supports linking not only to REF reflectors (which is what the DVAP's own software is limited to), but to XRF and DCS reflectors. Regarding programming the 51A to work with the DVAP, there are two approaches: The original technique was to program memories and operate in Memory Mode (as opposed to DR Mode). The other way would be to use DR Mode on your radio. You will need to add your DVAP to your radio's repeater list. Info on both approaches can be found on the W6KD Forum topic ID-51 Settings at w6kd.boards.net/thread/114/51-settings Jim - K6JM
