K6KD: As a follow up to the discussion on XLX reflectors: New in References and Links d-star-roundtable.boards.net/board/47/xlx-reflectors and new in General Discussion d-star-roundtable.boards.net/thread/146/xlx-reflectors
rf990: do i need to be a ham op to use this?
N6HKH: Thanks, John/K6KD.
N9KO-Calvin: For Bob, W6KD - Are they any enhancements in the newest version of D-Star Commander for those of us not running a RPi3? Thanks for all of your work.
KF4UCE: Gigaparts is saying they also have them in stock if you want a bundle.
KF4UCE: $293.90 for the bundle
W6EDS: Check out micro-node.com/
W6EDS: www.micro-node.com
W6KD: n9ko-there are a few bugfixes that would make the upgrade worthwhile for non RasPi3 users. The new (V2.00) image was rebuilt on the currently supported offical Raspbian OS version (Jessie) rather than the older Raspbian Wheezy, which is now at end-of-life
ke6anm: Kg4ice, Thnx, saw that, just want the board, appreciate your help.
w6jfc: Mike, I can connect to XRF via D15, D10 and D9 but I have not checked all.
w6jfc: Mike you should know - The DStar Steering Committee will be moving forward installing IrcDDB on all of the PAPA system DStar gateways.
ZL2TWS: D-Star round table should be a D-Star only discussion. Found the DMR-BM and DV4mini very unstable and MMDVM sounds not that much better. Never had much fun getting that stuff going not like the fun I am still having with D-Star Hotspots.
N6HKH: For ZL2TWS - everything being discussed, including DCS, XLX and MMDVM, are D-STAR. Only occasional references to DMR & BM were made.
ZL2TWS: Mike. Thank you for that. I turned off my radio, sorry the discussion was not to my liking and rather than say something I regret I turn it off. DV4mini and MMDVM signals on D-Star have caused lockups of some gateways. John
ZL2TWS: Mike. I have found the combination of DMR and other modes along side D-Star is not good. D-Star is the only ham standard and Robin is 100% correct to lock out any other system so that first time users have instant D-Star gratification. John
ve3mjm: Hi Mike. IC-5100 Blue tooth: Does the BlueParrottB350-XT BlueTooth Noise Cancelling Headset, work with this radio? Thanks Don
KF4UCE: www.dstarinfo.com/reflectors.aspx
W6KD: ve3mjm: the older Blue Parrott B250XT was supposed to work well, the B250XT+ had weak audio. So there are some important differences between them. Don't have any info on the 350s.
W6KD: what I think of when I hear "one digital mode"..."Eeeeeeeevening ver!" :-) www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CaMUfxVJVQ
N6HKH: Ah HAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm with you.
AG6WK: W6KD: I'm cured!!! haha
ZL2TWS: To W6KD. Excellent summation about "One digital mode" D-Star gives you different dresses to ware and you can send data in the stream along with the DV. Did a comparison with other modes and D-Star wins every time. Choices convinced me D-Star is the best. J
ve3mjm: Thanks for the input W6KD
AG6WK: N6HKH Great net tonight and thanks for keeping DSTAR World order!!
ZL2TWS: Don't get me wrong, experimentation is "Amateur radio" but don't screw a good experimenters D-Star system. I am also active on other systems via DV4 mini and it's just not as good and not reliable. Perhaps where D-Star was 10 years ago. John
