wb5eku: Not sure if it is a topic you want to use for the RT, but I put a link to here, the shoutbox on my desktop so all I have to do is click on it and I'm in. No more typing the urls for the shoutbox. Maybe I'm behind and someone has already suggested this.
N6HKH: BUSTER USERS: The host files (3 of them; one for each protocol) can be found by right clicking the Buster.app icon in the Applications folder and choosing "Show Package Contents." (Thanks to AI2M).
k6fed: DV4home supports all digital modes, while simplifying and extending the supported functions. While it acts as a "home" for the DV4mini it can be easily used mobile or portable as well. It is a stand alone unit that does not need a PC to operate.

TG9AOR: The current source for the updated host files may be found, where? Thanks.
TG9AOR: And I mean host files for the G4KLX software(ircDDBGateway). Thanks.
K6KD: Hot Spot Programmer xrefl.boards.net/thread/29/hot-spot-programmer-beta
W6KD: Firmware instructions for the dvMega at: g0wfv.wordpress.com/how-to-update-dvmega-firmware-without-a-programmer-or-an-arduino/
AA7US: Is this firmware update being attempted on a RPi model 3B?
N6HKH: RPi B+
N6HKH: Very first RPi B ... sorry
AA7US: DVMega dual band firmware upgrades are not possible on the model 3B... at least I haven't been able to get it to work. Earlier RPi models work fine for firmware upgrades.
W6KD: Some of the GPIO pins on the 3B were remapped...you can disable the BT/WiFi and install an overlay file to remap the pins to use the original UART chip and run most software that interfaces via hardware through the GPIO header.
K7REX-Dan: Programmer for DV-Mega Dual Band Raspberry RPI Shield can be found at: www.dv-mega.com/programmer-for-dual-band-raspberry-rpi-shield-t270.html?hilit=dual%20band%20single%20band%20programmers
AA7US: W6KD: Even with the remapping and disabling BT, I still couldn't get it to work on a 3B. Supposedly the reason has something to do with the processor on the 3B being too fast for the DVMega board to properly communicate for the firmware update.
W6KD: The RasPi B, B+, and 2B all use the original UART...the 3B changed things to allow the bluetooth and WiFi to use the original UART, and they added a much less reliable serial I/O chip (which uses the system clock rather than a dedicated h/w clock of its ow
W6KD: Whatever you do, don't send that guy at dv-mega.com money as a "gift"...I know a ham that ordered a hotspot, never received it from him, and had no recourse as a result of sending money to the guy via Paypal as a "gift"

K7REX-Dan: Bob, you told me about that bad experience that someone had with Guss at DVMEGA. That said, I didn't have any problems and have myself not heard of anyone that has....
W6KD: Not with Guus...dvmega.com is a retail outfit in the UK...Guus' direct site is at www.dvmega.auria.nl
K7REX-Dan: My dealings was directly with Guss....
W6KD: Ya, www.dv-mega.com is the same as www.dv-mega.co.uk, which is Karl in the UK, not to be confused with Guus, the guy who designed and makes the dv-mega
K7REX-Dan: Bob --- True --- I was working with Guss at the time who was walking me through to process of how to use it. He was who I bought it from..
W6KD: Guus is a good guy...my beef is with the antics of the reseller in England, who AFAIK is not connected with Guus any more than any other retail reseller.
K7REX-Dan: Yes, Guss was complaining about the poor and lacking customer support from Gigiparts at the time I was talking with him, so it isn't only in the UK
