W5ZIT: Has anyone succeeded in interfacing a device like the Internet Labs PC Access Dongle or equivalent to a standard FM radio through the 1200 Baud packet port? If so, how was the COS signal from the radio used to key the D-Star signal into the transmit mode
W5ZIT: Also, how was the PTT to the radio derived?
N6HKH: New Icom ID-31A/E "PLUS" D-STAR HT www.icomamerica.com/en/products/amateur/handheld/id31aplus/default.aspx
N6HKH: New Uniden SDR handheld scanner SDS100 www.uniden.com/newsroom/press-releases/sds100-coming-soon/
W6KD: The openspot is on sale direct from www.sharkrf.com for $117 (95 Euro) plus shipping. It's still $200 from HRO
N6HKH: G4KLX and KI6ZUM's opinions can be found here: d-star-roundtable.boards.net/thread/332/illegal-mmdvm-copies-zumspot-clones
W6KD: @w5zit...DStar is sent over RF modulated as 4800bps GMSK, not as 1200 bps AFSK, which is what you'd get by applying a digital keying signal to an FM radio's 1200 bps packet port. Don't think it's remotely possible to make it work the way you've described
wc6q: The guys that make the original MMDVM_HS_HAT are, Flo DF2ET Twitter: @flo_0_ and Mathis Schmieder Twitter: @db9mat their contention is that these boards are open source therefore cannot be profited from anyone else except for them.
wc6q: If you want to build your own MMDVM_HS_HAT, they provide the resources/BOM to do it here. github.com/mathisschmieder/MMDVM_HS_Hat You just cannot build and sell.
W5ZIT: Bob, I think you missed my point. The Internet Labs PC Access Dongle device has normal audio input and output, not digital. The device does the conversion from analog to digital. A simple handheld (even a Baofeng) could be used to access D-Star.
WA6JF0: Hello
WA6JFKAY: Hmmm, my call does not work
W6KD: @w5zit--I'm looking at one right now...USB interface only, converts between PCM and AMBE+ digital streams...no analog processing capability or connectors at all. This is the original blue dongle...are you referring to something else??
