Uninstalling WinDV is required when reverting to an earlier version or when you suspect your current non-working installation suffers from file corruption, or too much Windows OS involvement or improper drivers.
A good uninstaller program that finds and safely deletes everything relating to an unwanted program is IObit Uninstaller. The free version works just as well as the paid one.
Do not rely on the WinDV or Windows program uninstallers alone -- they are not comprehensive and leave behind files and drivers that may conflict with your reinstallation of WinDV.

W6KD: To delete your WinDV settings from the registry, run regedit and find the hive located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microwalt Corporation\WinDV and delete the entire hive--WinDV and all of its sub-keys.
CAUTION: if you aren't familiar with editing your registry, get someone who is to help...a misstep with the registry can really screw up your Windows installation.
